On July 1 of 2024, I became Superintendent of Schools for the Bolivar-Richburg School District. I’m a 1997 graduate of Bolivar-Richburg and as a student, I served as a Student Council representative for the merger between the two districts, which combined the neighboring towns in 1995.
I began my teaching career in 2003 as the High School Art teacher, spending 19 years in this teaching position, as well as coaching baseball and basketball, serving on three teacher contract negotiations, and helping to create a Digital Media Lab. I also worked collaboratively within the community, coordinating student projects with the Lions Club and Pioneer Oil Museum, and also teaching adult classes at the Bolivar and Richburg libraries. My roots run deep in the Bolivar and Richburg area, as my parents and grandparents both taught in the district.
In 2022, I was hired as the Secondary Principal at Bolivar-Richburg, helping to address many of the problems our students face post-pandemic including installing vape detectors in all bathrooms and being the first school in the area to ban cell phones during the school day. I am a strong supporter of student-oriented learning, with a focus on preparing the whole child for long-term, sustained success upon graduation.
As Superintendent, I am looking forward to working with the Board of Education, as well as the faculty and staff here at Bolivar-Richburg to give our students a well-rounded education, along with extra-curricular opportunities to make them ready for the next step in their individual journeys. I hope that with open and honest communication, and a positive approach every day, that our Wolverine family can ensure that we do the very best for our future generations!
